Director – Formacon Group
Laboring during the school holidays ignited Justin’s passion for the construction industry.
“When I started out we didn’t have The Block to inspire us—it was the reward and physical recognition for a hard day’s work,” explains Justin.
The 38-year-old construction specialist has an impressive portfolio with 17 years’ experience across a number of growing sectors including commercial, industrial and hospitality.
In the early days, Justin enjoyed the physical exertion resulting from a day realising a new or renovated build.
After more than a year gaining work experience in the trade, Justin enrolled in university, going on to complete a Bachelor of Building (Construction Economics) at the University of Western Sydney.
After graduating, Justin contributed to the industry as a project manager at a number of high profile companies before starting his own business, Formacon Building Services, in 2011.
A specialist construction, design and fitout company, Formacon focuses on commercial office fit outs, retail shop fitting, hospitality and light industry. One of the company’s most recent projects, a refurbishment of the Double Bay Bowling Club completed in September 2013.
In 2014, Justin became a first time author. In his book, entitled Constructive Ways; A Business and Investor Guide for Building Better Projects, Justin shares his expertise in order to help business owners and investors reach their goals and ultimately build better projects.
Justin is an active member of The Australian Institute of Project Managers and the Master Builders Association of NSW, and a regular contributor to the NSW Business Chamber.
Justin is passionate about the industry he grew up with. As he says,
“Construction is unlike any other profession—at the end of the day you can see, touch and feel the final product. There is a great sense of achievement. It’s an amazing industry; there is so much innovation and change and every day is different.”
